The International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs, in cooperation with the International Aviation Services Organization (IASO), has announced the launch of an emergency humanitarian campaign entitled “Nafas – Your Right to Life”, led by Dr. Majed Al-Rukbi, High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa. This campaign comes in direct response to the environmental and humanitarian disasters caused by the wildfires that have swept across large areas of the Syrian coast, continuing to pose a serious threat to the health and safety of civilians.
The “Nafas” campaign focuses on supporting efforts to confront this crisis through several key pillars:

Supporting firefighting and rescue teams who are making heroic efforts to combat the fires amid harsh climatic and geographic challenges.

Assisting affected and displaced families impacted by the wildfires.

Distributing urgent humanitarian aid, including safe drinking water, medicines, and shelter.

Implementing awareness campaigns in threatened areas to minimize risks and protect civilians.

Honoring contributors and volunteers who are dedicating their time and efforts to face the disaster.
As part of the campaign, the organization has mobilized its teams inside Syria for field readiness and opened the door for volunteers to participate in the operational plan, the details of which will be announced progressively.
The organization expressed its deep concern over the rapidly escalating environmental and humanitarian damage and reaffirmed its full solidarity with the people of the Syrian coast who have been affected. It also commended the efforts of Civil Defense, firefighting units, and volunteers who are bravely confronting the flames in severe climatic conditions and complex mountainous terrain, despite limited resources and support.
This campaign represents an open call to the international community and local actors to strengthen the urgent humanitarian response and provide the logistical support and resources necessary to address this disaster, which threatens the lives and livelihoods of thousands of civilians.
